The Republic of Valoria (French: République Valorienne [ʁepyblik valɔʁjn]), commonly known as Valoria, is a country located in North America.

European colonization

British independence and early years (1756–1788)

The day after Governor Shirley's resignation, on September 26th, 1756, Anthony Vanwall formally declared the cities of Boston and Plymouth, as well as their surrounding areas, independent from the colony of Massachusetts. An informal council of prominent separatists, the foundation for today's National Assembly, was created to begin drafting a constitution. This council also appointed Christian Barton as chief ambassador, tasked with representing the new country internationally.

Valoria's founding was naturally met with resistance from Britain, both because of the illegal secession and because of French support. Valoria being founded in the midst of a war between global superpowers, Vanwall decided the nation's first major necessity would be a powerful army. Vanwall thus worked to equip the defense force of roughly fifteen thousand men that had been formed prior to secession with French weapons and training, provided by the Marquis de Montcalm. He also placed great importance on education, both because of his protestant beliefs, and because of his desire to educate a class of capable military leaders that could defend the country. With these aims in mind, Harvard college, the local institution of higher learning, was effectively turned into a military training facility for the Valorian defense force.

Although France initially succeeded in the early years of the war, the British were eventually able to turn the tides, and by 1758, the war in North America had entered a stalemate. For two years, neither side gained nor lost much compared to the other. By 1760, only a few sporadic engagements marked the continent, and the fighting between the French and British had moved to Europe itself. The British repeatedly tried to reclaim Boston and Plymouth for the next few years, but staunch defense from Valorians meant the British never managed to reclaim the secceeding territory.
