Commanding General of the Armed Forces of Valoria

The Commanding General of the Armed Forces of Valoria, often shortened to the acronym CGAFV, and sometimes referred to as Commanding General in context, (French: général-commandant des forces armées de la valorie) is the seniormost military rank in the Armed Forces of Valoria.

The CGAFV is the only five-star military rank in the Valorian military, and is equivalent to a NATO OF-10 rank. The Commanding General exercises complete command and operational authority over all branches of military. As the highest-ranking military officer, the CGAFV chairs both the Assembled Chiefs of Staff, and the Assembled Commands.

The CGAFV is appointed and serves at the pleasure of the president, and is the only impeachable military officer. The office reports to the Secretary of Defense and president, and serves as the closest advisor to the military's top civilian leaders.

Since 2023, the office has been held by Phillip Caldwell.

Role & Seniority

The Commanding General is the seniormost officer in the military proper. The officeholder reports to the president and secretary of defense.

The Commanding General is the chairman of both the Assembled Chiefs of Staff, and the Assembled Commands. This role, however, has led to some confusion in the past, as disputes have arisen over the Commanding General's specific role.
