== Format ==
Every VHL team also takes part in the Coupe Balbuzard, and all matchups are determined by random draw. The first match is typically held sometime in mid-to-late July, and the entire tournament lasts roughly two weeks. The Round of 16 matchups are always drawn just a few days before the first match is scheduled, giving teams little time to study their opponents and strategize. Subsequent matchups, to determine the quarter-finals and semi-finals, are often held just a day before they matches themselves.

The Coupe Balbuzard is a single-elimination tournament, and does not feature a third place match for the losing semi-finalists. All games except the final are held at the Stade Balbuzard, the [[Valorian Men's National Ice Hockey Team|Valorian National Team]]'s home stadium. The final is held at the home stadium of the previous year's winners.
